Children's Swim Lessons

Costs-7 Week: Parent-Tot thru Level 2 $50 members/$60 community. Level 3 - Level 6 $70 members/$80 community

Policies

Make-ups or credits are NOT available should a class be missed for any reason. Confirmation calls will NOT be made. Cancellations prior to the start of class will incur 25% cancellation fee unless a doctors note is recieved. Class Transfers that are made by the participant in the week prior to lessons, will incur a $10 transfer fee per child. Registrations will not be accepted after 2 weeks into the session.

Parent Tot A Swim Lesson

This level is best suited for infants and toddlers not yet walking. Parent and child together develop comfort with water in a safe and fun environment. Explore and learn how to move through the water using games, songs and repetition. This class will focus on safety and proper holding of young children in the water. Minimum age 6 months.

Parent Tot B Swim Lesson

This class is best suited for toddlers who are already walking but not yet ready to separate from caregiver. Usual age is 15 - 36 months. You will learn how to support your child in the basics of swim skills such as floats and supported glides. The basis of this class will be taught through games, songs and repetitive learning. The child will be taught basic safety around the water, how and when to jump into a pool and lifejacket safety.

Preswim 1 (7 week program)

Designed for children ages 24-36 months. For the child who is ready to "Do it by myself", but may have issues seperating from caregiver. We will work on water entry and comfort in the water through games and songs. If needed, arrangements can be made to allow the caregiver into the water with the child and transistioned out during the first 3 classes. Please come prepared for this at the first class.

Designed for children ages 24-36 months. For the child who is ready to "Do it by myself", but may have issues seperating from caregiver. For the child who is not hesitant to enter the water. We will work on getting our faces wet, basic breathing skills, and floating on front and back with assistance. Games and songs are used as teaching tools. Repetition is key in this level.

Fundamental aquatic skills. We will work on kicking and arm motions. The children will learn different kinds of kicking along with treading water and rotary breathing.The children will begin to swim for longer distance on front and back. Deep water practice is essential.

Level 3 (7 week program)

Stroke development. We will begin to introduce new strokes, the children will learn back crawl, butterfly kick and body motion. We will review the strokes. Rotary breathing will be re-enforced and children will begin to learn advance safety skills.

Advance Stroke Introduction. Front and Back crawl should be mastered before entering this level. The children will be learning breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke body position and butterfly.

Level 5 (7 week program)

Stroke Refinement. We are learning flip turns, sidestroke, survival swimming, and surface dives. We will build on endurance and introduce students to standard swim drills and longer swimming distances.

In this level, you will have the opportunity to try three brand new things! Each session we will rotate the focus of the class between these topics. (1) Personal Water Safety: Learn how to inflate clothes and float. Learn about boat safety. (2) Fitness Swimmer: Swimming as an exercise. Learn to calculate your heart rate and make your strokes easier. (3) Lifeguard readiness: Let's learn reaching, throwing and wading assists.

Summer Intensive Lessons

Ideal for families with summer vacations planned! Lessons meet Monday through Thursday for two weeks. Four summer sessions will be offered and one final session in the outdoor pool during the evenings! Registration for the entire summer begins on regular registration dates.

Fitness Swimming for Kids

An excellent opportunity for swimmers who have comleted Red Cross Level 3 to work on thier lap swimming skills. Participant MUST be able to swim 25 yards continuously. Endurance in addition to circle swimming, breathing techniques, flip turns and monitoring heart rates will be the main focus of the course.
